Basically I'm still on a major learning curve and it's really exciting. I highly recommend picking up photography as a hobby, it really is a lot of fun.
A few years back I had a Canon Powershot point and shoot camera which totally did the trick for me back then, I mean the thing fits in your pocket so you can bring it anywhere! after blasting off point and shoot photos for about a year I decided to snap a photo of my hungover friend sleeping thinking it would be funny.. bad idea. He smacked it and the thing broke into pieces. I was one hell of a bummed kid. I didn't shoot photos for over a year after that. Heres some P&S photos from '06
Summer '06 (left to right) Pat Massie, Blair Martel, Cri Massie and Danny O'brien @ Cornwall Bandshell.
At the time I was 17-18 and thats back when we all lived with our parents and we're still in school. Our crew was so tight, skate all day and all night all the time. So many good memories. This spot is basically the most OG spot in Cornwall - anybody who grew up skating in Cornwall knows how legendary the Bandshell is.
Danny O'brien & Jay Burles.
Point and shoot! this is like 7:30 am on my way to work while I was working at Startek in Cornwall (Winter 06-07). This Bridge is scheduled for destruction in the near future. If you have been to Cornwall before you'd probably thinking, "that place stinks" well it doesn't anymore actually. The papermill has been shutdown for a few years now and Cornwall smells like a regualar Onterrible town. The place is still a dive though.
Bus to foufs!
This is another gem from back in the day. Love to hate the bus to fouf.
Basically I went on a few buses before in '04 and '05 when other people were organizing them and I thought it was the sickest thing someone could organize: 48 seater - sell tickets - you can drink booze and smoke (this bus driver was cool as s**t) we would cram up to 60 people on this thing!
At first my friends and I were like 16 so we didn't really hit the bar, we'd bring our boards and skate downtown Montreal til 4 in the morning. soo fun!
Richard the illest bus driver.
Eventually people began to get stupid and the previous organizers got fed up and quit doing Buses. I figured what the hell I'll give it a try. I would sell tickets for 12 bucks a piece, end up with over $200 extra for myself, organize them monthly or bi-monthly for good times and the rest is history. Anyone that has gone on the Bus knows how much fun it was.
Animals!
Drop off was around St. Laurent and Ste. Cathrines so you could basically party hard from about 9-10pm til 3-4 am on the whole strip in downtown Montreal. Strip clubs, Dance clubs, Metal bars, Pubs, whatever the hell you feel like doing its Montreal! hell you could even pick up a hooker if you wanted.
Some people got left behind sometimes and some people never left the bus the whole night 'cause of madness on the 1 hour ride up.
Again, people started getting stupid and I had to end it.
Buses still happen to this day for band support when there are gigs in MTL
